Vrishchikam, or Vrishchika Masam, is the fourth month in a traditional Malayalam calendar and is a highly auspicious month. Vrishchika Masam 2012 begins on November 16 and ends on December 15. On 13th day of Vrichikam [Wednesday, 28 November, 2012] Temple conduct Karthika Vilakku. Glowing 100s of small lamps around the temple compound.

On this day all the devotees and the family members will glow one lamp with their hand for the blessing of Goddess Mariamma.
